Language Arts 4
Curriculum
Language Arts 4 will provide grammar, literature, spelling, and writing lessons.
Christian Light Language Arts 4 will provide the backbone of our studies with lessons. It is a comprehensive program that teaches grammar, spelling, handwriting, and mechanics. Students will learn parts of speech, punctuation rules, and spelling rules. They will compose essays and stories, read poetry, and more. The workbooks include spelling lists and exercises for students to practice target words not only by studying and copying them, but by using them in sentences.
In addition to studying the mechanics of words, students will be encouraged to delight in them as well. Together we will read engaging, well-written middle-grade novels.
Parents will be responsible for checking grammar homework completed at home, assisting the student as needed with writing projects, and monitoring assigned reading.
Home Studies
- Students should plan to devote approximately 60-70 minutes per week on at-home assignments, depending on their writing skills.
- Regular progress reports will be sent to parents.
Prerequisites
- Students must be nine years of age by September 1st to enroll in Language Arts 4. They should also be competent readers and know cursive basics.
