Language Arts 5

$865

Curriculum

Language Arts 5 will provide grammar, literature, spelling, and writing lessons.

Christian Light Language Arts is an excellent, comprehensive program that teaches grammar, spelling, and mechanics. Students will learn to take notes, retell narrative stories, summarize references, compose essays and stories, diagram sentences, and more. The program includes spelling lists and exercises for students to practice target words not only by studying and copying them, but by using them in sentences. Students will also practice cursive penmanship with the goal of attaining fluent and legible writing at an efficient speed for taking notes and for use in everyday writing.

Reading Detective will help students think carefully and critically about their reading. Vocabulary from Classical Roots is a thematically-organized vocabulary program that teaches students Greek and Latin roots, increasing their English vocabulary.

In addition to studying the mechanics of words, students will be encouraged to delight in them as well. Together we will read exciting, colorful, and adventurous literature which students will continue enjoying throughout the week.

Parents will be responsible for checking grammar homework completed at home, assisting the student as needed with editing writing projects, and monitoring assigned reading.
